Binary Diff Studio

Compare binary files using hashes, aligned byte differences, common prefixes/suffixes, grouped ranges, hex windows and downloadable reports.

Browser-local: processed in this tab. Experimental learning tool; independently validate high-stakes conclusions.

01 · Choose two files

Byte-level comparison; original files are never modified.

Choose two files (maximum 100 MiB each).

02 · Summary metrics

Hashes, equality, lengths, common prefix/suffix and mismatch ratio.

03 · Difference windows

Grouped changed ranges and byte windows around the first mismatch.

Run comparison.

04 · Hex comparison viewer

Show aligned bytes around a chosen decimal offset.

No comparison loaded.

05 · Insert/delete-aware diff & edit script

Unlike the aligned comparison above, this finds inserted and deleted runs and re-synchronises afterwards, so one inserted byte does not mark the rest of the file as changed. Files up to 16 MiB.

Uses files A and B from panel 01.
Edit operations appear here.

06 · Patch apply & verify

Apply a .rdp patch to a base file and check the result against a target hash. Also self-checks patches made here.

Patch format: RDP1 (copy-from-base / add-literal ops, SHA-256 of target embedded).

07 · Bit-level change analysis

Characterises the aligned differences: bit-flip counts, single-bit flips, LSB-only changes and byte-delta distribution.

Run to see an interpretation.

08 · Text line diff

For text files: Myers line diff with unified output, ignore-whitespace and ignore-case options.

Uses files A and B from panel 01.
Unified diff appears here.
